 “Virginia Clyde Joyce and Carroll Rossiter Thomas were married Dec. 28, 1910, at Fountain Dale, the Joyce home, at Gambrills, Maryland. The marriage was performed by the Rev. W.H.H. Joyce (Clyde Joyce’s brother). Virginia Clyde Joyce was born on July 16, 1884 at McDowell, Highland Co., Virginia. She graduated from the Valley Female College in Winchester, Virginia, in 1902. Then for a period of ten years, covering the time before and after her marriage, she taught in the schools of Anne Arundel County, Maryland. She was the youngest daughter of the Rev. Charles Addison Joyce and Mary Frances Hank.”
