Born to Henry Joyce and Sarah Lovett.

 

1826 September 8

I bequest to my son Charles and my daughters Jemima and Sarah Watkins to be equally divided between them, their heirs and assigns, a lot of land being part of a tract of land called Kensington, which was conveyed to me by Deed from Harry Torvel which said land being situated between the lot on which I now live and a lot now occupied by Walter Hall in Anne Arundel County on the Frederickstown Turnpike Road. In addition, as soon as my death, I request and order that my son Joseph Joyce be liberated from slavery. Seal 4/26, 1830.
